Accessibility Statement
At NU-U Health & Fitness, wellness is for everyone. Elena Tonietto built NU-U on the belief that movement, strength and vibrant living should be within reach for every body, at every stage of life. That same belief shapes this website. We want every visitor โ whether you use a keyboard, a screen reader, voice controls, or simply prefer larger text and calmer motion โ to find, read and use everything here with ease. As a North Bay, Ontario business, we are committed to meeting the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and to continually improving the experience for all of our visitors across Canada and the United States.
Our commitment to accessibility
Accessibility is part of how we coach and how we welcome people. We are committed to giving everyone an equitable, dignified and independent experience on this website, and to removing barriers wherever we find them. This commitment is ongoing rather than a one-time task โ as our site grows and technology changes, we keep working to make sure the door stays open to all. If any part of NU-U is difficult for you to use, we treat that as our responsibility to fix, and we welcome the chance to make it right. You are always encouraged to reach out and tell us how we can serve you better.
The standard we aim for: WCAG 2.1 Level AA under AODA
As an Ontario organization, NU-U Health & Fitness is committed to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and its Information and Communications standards. To meet these obligations, we aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the internationally recognized benchmark for accessible websites. These guidelines are organized around four principles โ that content be perceivable, operable, understandable and robust โ and we use them to guide our design, our writing and our development choices. While no website is ever perfectly accessible, WCAG 2.1 AA is the target we design toward and measure ourselves against.
Measures we have taken
We have built and maintain this website with accessibility in mind from the ground up. Steps we take include:
- Semantic HTML structure โ proper headings, landmarks and lists so assistive technologies can interpret and navigate our pages reliably.
- Full keyboard navigation โ you can move through menus, links, forms and buttons using only a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator showing where you are.
- Sufficient colour contrast โ text and interactive elements are chosen to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios so they stay readable in bright and low light alike.
- Descriptive alt text โ meaningful images carry text alternatives so their content is available to screen-reader users, while decorative images are marked so they don’t add clutter.
- Readable typography โ comfortable font sizes, generous line spacing and text that reflows cleanly when you zoom or enlarge it.
- Respect for reduced motion โ if you have enabled a “reduce motion” preference on your device, we honour it and minimize non-essential animation.
These measures apply across our pages, from our services to our blog, and we review them as we add new content.
Accessible services โ in person and online โ and requesting an accommodation
Our commitment reaches beyond the website to the coaching itself. In person, we serve clients throughout North Bay and the Nipissing District, and Elena will gladly discuss space, pacing, equipment and exercise modifications so that classes and training sessions work for your body and your needs. Online, our virtual classes and coaching reach clients across Canada and the USA, and we’re happy to adapt formats, session length and communication methods to suit you.
If you need an accommodation โ an alternate format of any information on this site, a different way to book or communicate, or an adjustment to a program โ simply ask. You can email elenafit4u@gmail.com, call or WhatsApp 519-209-3500, and we will work with you personally to find a solution that fits. (As always, we coach for general wellness and healthy aging, not medical treatment, so please check with your physician before beginning any new exercise or nutrition program.)
Known limitations and ongoing improvement
We are honest about the fact that accessibility is a journey. Despite our best efforts, some content may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA โ for example, occasional third-party embeds (such as video, booking or payment tools), older documents, or images added before our current standards were in place may present barriers we haven’t fully resolved. Where a third-party feature is outside our direct control, we advocate with those providers for improvements and look for accessible alternatives. We review our site regularly, address issues as we discover them, and factor accessibility into every new page and feature we build. If you encounter something that isn’t working for you, please tell us โ your feedback often points us to the very things we most need to improve.
Report a barrier or share your feedback
Your experience matters to us, and we genuinely want to hear it. If you run into an accessibility barrier on this website โ or have a suggestion for making it better โ please get in touch:
- Email: elenafit4u@gmail.com
- Phone / WhatsApp: 519-209-3500
When you contact us, it helps to include the page or feature involved, a description of the problem, and the device or assistive technology you were using โ but even a quick note is welcome. We are committed to acknowledging your feedback and responding, typically within two business days, and to working with you until the issue is resolved. Thank you for helping us make NU-U Health & Fitness a place where everyone can move well, age strong and live vibrant. You can also visit our contact page any time to connect with Elena directly.
