Who online fitness classes are for
Online classes are built for anyone who wants expert coaching without leaving home. That includes busy parents fitting movement into a packed week, people outside North Bay who still want to train with Elena, and anyone who finds an Ontario winter makes getting to a gym harder than it needs to be. If you’ve been meaning to start but life keeps getting in the way, the flexibility of live and on-demand sessions removes the biggest barrier: showing up.
They’re also ideal if you’re rebuilding strength gradually or focused on longevity. Older adults and those interested in healthy aging love that every class offers gentler options, while stronger movers can add load and intensity in the very same session. Wherever you’re starting from, you set the pace.
What a session looks like
Each class opens with a mobility-focused warm-up to wake up your joints and get your body ready to work safely. From there you’ll move through a coached sequence โ think functional strength, core and posture work, balance drills, and Pilates-inspired control โ before an intentional cool-down. Elena talks you through every rep with clear cues and constant reminders that this is your practice, at your level.
Because sessions rotate through different focuses, your body gets a well-rounded stimulus over the week rather than the same routine on repeat. If you want to go deeper on one area, online classes pair beautifully with functional strength and mobility work so your at-home training carries over into everyday life โ carrying groceries, climbing stairs, and moving with ease.
Elena's approach and experience
Elena has been a fitness professional for over 20 years โ a certified personal trainer since 2006 and Pilates instructor since 2007 โ and she brings that depth to every online class. As the founder of NU-U Health & Fitness and inventor of the choreographed NU Bar, she knows how to make training effective, safe, and genuinely enjoyable, not intimidating.
Her coaching philosophy is simple: meet you where you are, build strength for the long game, and keep it human. She’ll never push you past what’s safe, and she always encourages checking in with your physician before starting a new program. If you want to reinforce your results off the mat, ask about nutrition coaching to round out your wellness โ because moving well is only part of the picture.

Frequently asked questions
How much do online classes cost?
Online membership is $50โ75/month CAD depending on the level of access you choose, and it includes both live classes and the on-demand library. US-based clients can be billed in USD โ just ask. Start with a free intro call to find the right fit before you commit.
Are online classes as good as in-person training?
For many people, yes โ you get the same expert coaching, clear cues, and modifications, with the added flexibility of training from home on your own schedule. If you prefer hands-on, individualized attention, in-person options in North Bay or one-on-one [[personal-training|personal training]] may suit you better, and many members combine both.
I'm a complete beginner โ will I be able to keep up?
Absolutely. Every movement is offered with an easier variation, and you can pause or rewind on-demand classes as often as you like. If you're just getting started, [[beginner-fitness|beginner fitness]] and the article on [[pilates-for-beginners|Pilates for beginners]] are great places to build confidence first.
What equipment or space do I need?
A clear spot roughly the size of your mat, comfortable clothes, and water to start. Some classes use light dumbbells or a resistance band, but bodyweight alternatives are always shown, so you can join with what you have at home.
How do I know if online classes are right for me?
If you value flexibility, want structure and accountability without a commute, and are comfortable following along on a screen, online classes are a great match. Book a free intro call and Elena will help you decide honestly โ even if that means a different NU-U service.
Can I cancel my membership?
Yes. The monthly membership is flexible with no long lock-in โ you can pause or cancel with reasonable notice. Elena will walk you through the details on your intro call so there are no surprises.
