Wellness Retreats & Nature Retreat Experiences
Half-day, full-day and multi-day nature retreats to move well, breathe deep and reset—guided by Elena Tonietto in North Bay, Ontario.
Wellness retreats give you the space to step out of the daily rush and reconnect with your body, your breath and the natural world around you. Hosted in and around North Bay, Ontario and the Nipissing District, these nature retreat experiences blend gentle movement, mindful time outdoors, wholesome nutrition and genuine rest—so you leave feeling calmer, stronger and more like yourself. Whether you have a few hours or a few days, there is a format designed to meet you exactly where you are.
Guided by Elena Tonietto, founder of NU-U Health & Fitness since 2008 and a fitness professional for 20+ years, every retreat is grounded in real coaching rather than quick fixes. Elena grew up in the mountains of Romania, where she learned a love of nature and healthy living from her parents, and she now brings that same philosophy to Canadians looking to slow down and recharge. Days flow through accessible movement, forest time, nourishing food and simple practices you can carry home long after the retreat ends.
Retreats are in-person by nature, but the journey does not have to stop there. If you live beyond North Bay, Elena also coaches online across Canada and the USA, so you can prepare beforehand and keep your momentum going once you are back home. This is your invitation to move well, age strong and live vibrant—one restorative day at a time.

Who these wellness retreats are for
These retreats are for anyone who feels overdue for a reset. Maybe you are juggling work, family and everything in between, and your own wellbeing keeps slipping to the bottom of the list. Maybe you love the idea of moving your body but want it to feel gentle and joyful rather than intimidating. Or maybe you simply miss being outdoors and long to breathe deeply among the trees. If any of that resonates, you belong here.
You do not need to be fit, flexible or experienced—only willing to show up as you are. Retreats welcome all ages and stages, and they are especially meaningful if you are focused on healthy aging and want to feel capable and vibrant for the long run. Come solo to meet like-minded people, or bring a friend and share the experience together.
What a nature retreat day looks like
A retreat day unfolds at a human pace. Mornings often begin with gentle, guided movement—mobility, stretching and low-impact strength that leaves you feeling loose and energized rather than depleted. From there we move outdoors, drawing on the calming, science-supported principles of forest therapy to slow down, notice and simply be present in nature.
Between sessions you will nourish yourself with wholesome food and pick up practical, no-nonsense nutrition tips you can actually use at home—an extension of the education I offer through nutrition coaching. The day closes with rest and reset practices like breathwork and quiet reflection. Multi-day retreats layer in more time outdoors, deeper relaxation and space to fully unplug from screens and stress.
Elena's approach and experience
I have spent more than 20 years as a fitness professional—an instructor since 2004, a personal trainer since 2006, and the founder of NU-U Health & Fitness and outdoor bootcamps since 2008. I am also a certified Pilates and nutrition coach, a sylvotherapy practitioner, and a lifelong outdoor athlete who genuinely loves trails, fresh air and the changing Ontario seasons. Nature has always been my teacher, going right back to my childhood in the mountains of Romania.
That means your retreat is guided by real coaching, not a spa-day script. I meet you where you are, adapt every movement to your body, and keep the atmosphere warm, encouraging and free of pressure. Want to keep the momentum after your retreat? I can build you personalized wellness plans so the calm, strength and healthy habits you discover become part of everyday life. As always, this is general wellness coaching and education—please consult your physician before beginning any new program.

Frequently asked questions
How much do the wellness retreats cost?
Pricing is per person and depends on the format you choose—half-day, full-day or multi-day—along with group size and any add-ons like meals or accommodation. Because every retreat is a little different, pricing is shared on request. Start with a free intro call and I will give you a clear, transparent quote in CAD (USD available for US guests).
Are retreats in person or online?
Retreats are in-person by nature, held in and around North Bay, Ontario and the Nipissing District, so you can truly unplug outdoors. If you live farther away, I also coach [[online-classes|online across Canada and the USA]], which is a great way to prepare beforehand and keep your progress going after the retreat.
I'm a beginner—will I be able to keep up?
Absolutely. Every session is designed to be accessible and all-levels, and you are always invited to move at your own pace. Whether you are brand new to exercise or returning after a break, you will feel welcome. If you are just getting started, [[beginner-fitness|beginner fitness]] coaching pairs beautifully with a retreat.
What should I bring and what can I expect?
Expect a relaxed, unhurried flow of gentle movement, time in nature, nourishing food and quiet rest. You will receive a simple what-to-bring list once you book—typically comfortable layers, weather-appropriate footwear, a water bottle and an open mind. Ontario seasons shape each retreat, so we dress for the day and make the most of the outdoors.
Is a retreat right for me?
If you are feeling stretched thin, craving time outdoors, or simply want to reconnect with your body and reset, a retreat is a wonderful fit—especially if you are focused on [[healthy-aging|healthy aging]] and feeling strong for years to come. As with any new activity, please check with your physician before starting, and I will always adapt to your needs.
What is your cancellation policy?
Life happens, and I want the experience to feel supportive from the start. Cancellation terms depend on the retreat format and any third-party bookings involved, so I will walk you through them clearly before you commit—no surprises.
